ASCE Los Angeles Section Life Member Forum

A life member has made a lifetime commitment to ASCE and the civil engineering profession by currently maintaining the rank of ASCE Member for decades of their professional career. The Los Angeles Section Life Member Forum (LMF), established in 1981, is still the only active ASCE LMF chapter in the United States.

We welcome new additions in March of each year through an annual Induction Ceremony. We encourage the newly elected and past members of the LA Section LMF to participate in LMF activities to promote and mentor ASCE civil engineering students, the community, and other engineers. ASCE LMF have used their members’ vast engineering experiences in supporting their local communities in the areas of Disaster Preparedness, Infrastructure programs, ASCE History & Heritage projects, and the LMF scholarship program.

The LMF meets on the first Thursday of each month via Zoom at 11:00 AM. Due to COVID-19 restrictions started in March 2020, we have not held in-person meetings until the local environment & conditions dictate otherwise. We meet to do live social activities and field trips to interesting Engineering Projects.  

To become a life member, you must have:

• reached 65 years of age
• paid dues in any membership grade except student member for at least 35 years
• had 10 years of continuous dues-paying membership immediately preceding the attainment of life member.
