Speakers from the Riverside Coutny Transportaiton Department (RCTD) and design team will present lessons learned on this project that is currently under construction. This project utilitzes light weight fill (LWF) for bridge abutment construction, unique bridge and retaining wall architectural treatment, involves signifcant utility relocations, and UPRR construction coordination. Speaker: John Ashlock, PE - RCTD  John is registered civil engineer who has worked for the County of Riverside Transportation Department since 2005.  John has worked at the county in the design, development review, capitol project development and construction divisions.  He is currently working in the field as a resident engineer on the Airport Boulevard Railroad Grade Separation Project.  John also served as the Deputy Project Manager during the PR/ED and PS&E phases of this project. John previously worked in land development at Ludwig Engineering in San Bernardino and AEI-CASC Engineering in Colton, California.  John graduated from California State Poly Technic University, Pomona, with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.  He is a member of the San Bernardino/Riverside branch of ASCE.    John will be discussing the use of lightweight concrete embankment fill material with mechanically stabilized retaining walls, as well as the incorporation of unique aesthetic treatments on the Airport Boulevard Railroad Grade Separation Project that is currently under construction.  He will also discuss some challenges that have been faced during the project.   Contact marketing@asceoc.org for sponsorship opportunities.
