The lessons learned on this complex mega project can be applied to future transportation projects as our technical community continues to advance infrastructure in achieving quality and public safety. They will discuss the following technical topics during the presentation: What is seismic safety? What is stress corrosion? What are the issues with the Bay Bridge bolts? What can the industry learn from this issue? How did the project team achieve deck planar alignment in the shop and in the field? Status update on the demolition of the old Bay Bridge and the plans for historic preservation of selected old Bay Bridge elements Various material testing and inspections performed in the shop and the field What are the plans for the bike path from Oakland to San Francisco? Dr. Maroney has over 25 years experience in Bridge Design, Earthquake Engineering, Construction and Project Management. He is employed by the California Department of Transportation and is currently the Toll Bridge Program Chief Bridge Engineer and Deputy Toll Bridge Program Manager responsible for overseeing the design for the Toll Bridge Seismic Safety Program. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department at the University of California, Davis.  Karen Wang, PE Karen Wang is a Civil PE registered in California and has been with HNTB for 13 years. She is a member of the HNTB Program Management Team on the East Span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Project since 2005. She has served on the most critical parts of the project as the list includes the following: Yerba Buena Island Detour Project involving the roll-in/roll-out of the steel truss bridges during a 4-day bridge closure, permanent repair of the Eyebar on the Existing Bay Bridge, and served on the Self-Anchored Suspension Bridge involving coordination of design and construction related issues.  Sponsorship Opportunities Are Available Sponsorship of our lunches is available for only $300.  This includes registration of one individual who sits at a reserved table with the speaker(s).  The company logo is displayed at the event and a company representative is given 2 minutes at the podium.  The company also may have a display booth at the event.   You may also opt for having only a booth display at our lunch events for $100.
