Synopsis: The Rancho Mission Viejo Company’s Planning Area 2 (PA-2) is located northeast of the intersection of Ortega Highway and Antonio Parkway in south Orange County and contains a total of approximately 840 acres. The development is currently proposed for 3,500 dwelling units, a public school, regional retail, community facilities and open space. PA-2 is in the preliminary stages of construction, and the first models are scheduled to open in 2015. The presentation will focus on the extensive water resources planning that was required long before dirt could be moved. This was a collaborative effort to address all aspects of water resources engineering, including: storm water runoff management; potable and recycled water supply; water demand reduction strategies; and advancements in irrigation system planning and design.
