Mendez High School Career Day

The Promesa Boyle Height Collaborative and Mendez High School for College & Career Prep are hosting their Annual Career Day on Thursday, March 22, 2018. We aim to provide critical career information to empower youth and their families to reach their dreams of becoming professionals. What better way to learn about careers that they aspire to than from the people living them? For this reason, we invite you to be a guest panelist to talk about your profession and the journey that made it possible.

Based on our surveys, your profession was identified as a high-interest career by the students at Mendez High School. We invite you to join other panelists to speak in two sessions that will run for (40) minutes each and will focus on careers in your respective area. The event will be “conference style” where students select up to two sessions from about (38) concurrent sessions. Each professional will be paired with at least one more professional and a lead teacher that will facilitate the panel discussion.

9:00am – 10:00amCareer Day General Assembly

10:30am – 11:30amSession I (15 minutes per professional, followed by 10 minute Q&A

11:30am – 12:30pmSession II (15 minutes per professional, followed by 10 minute Q&A

If you are available and interested, please confirm your participation by Friday, February 23rd with Iliana Garcia at igarcia@proyectopastoral.org. The conference will take place at Mendez High School at 1200 Plaza Del Sol East, Los Angeles, CA 90033.

During the panel, you will have (15) minutes to:

●Introduce yourself and provide a brief background about yourself;

●Briefly talk about your education and/or experience related to your profession. Please feel free to share the things that helped you succeed as well as challenges you faced and how you overcame those challenges;

●Describe how you became interested and how you got into your profession. Please share highlights

about your profession as well as a brief description of your day-to-day responsibilities

You are welcome to organize your presentation using interactive activities or Powerpoint presentations. Students will ask questions and interact with panelists after all panelists have presented.
