Details TOPIC - DELIVERING THE STATE'S FIRST DIVERGING DIAMOND INTERCHANGE (DDI) The ASCE Orange County Branch invites you to attend the January Luncheon featuring Rob Himes, P.E. and Aaron Silva, P.E. for a presentation on the State's First Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) currently being developed by the City of Manteca and in close coordination with Caltrans District 10.  The City of Manteca needed to reconfigure the State Route 120 (SR 120)/Union Road Interchange to increase traffic capacity and safety. However, previous studies for the interchange recommended a partial cloverleaf configuration, which exceeded the City’s available construction funding. The City wanted a more efficient interchange configuration that provided the needed capacity enhancements. The City selected a new interchange type, a Diverging Diamond, the first to be constructed in the state of California. Learn how the City and the Mark Thomas team have been able to work with Caltrans to gain approval for the new interchange type, as well as develop a project that will provide capacity and safety for all travel modes. Join us for this informative presentation to learn more about the project, the approval process and lessons learned.    About The Speakers:     Rob Himes, P.E. - President and Prinicipal As President of Mark Thomas, he leads a staff of 180 engineers, planners, surveyors, and professionals in eleven offices located throughout the state.
