We are fortunate to have Yaz Emrani, co-chair of the O.C. Infrastructure Report Card Executive Committee, present on the state of infrastructure performance in Orange County.  The Orange County branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers today released its 2016 Orange County Infrastructure Report Card, giving the county a C+ average in 12 categories. The report card was developed in collaboration with the UC Irvine Civil & Environmental Engineering Affiliates, an advisory group to the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in UCI’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering. Speakers:   Yaz Emrani Yaz Emrani is Vice President and Southern California Infrastructure Lead for Carollo Engineers, Inc., a California based Consulting Engineering firm. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from University of Maryland at College Park.  Yaz has over 28 years of experience working on a variety of civil and environmental engineering projects. These include planning, design, and construction management of infrastructure improvements for various public and private clients. In addition to infrastructure planning and design, Yaz is also skilled in GIS and asset management applications. He started his career as a design engineer for a consulting engineering firm in Maryland and since then has been both client and consultant, serving as Public Works Director as well as founder and CEO of his own infrastructure consulting firm.  Yaz is a Past President of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Orange County Branch and ASCE's Los Angeles Section. Yaz is an active advocate for continued need for investment in our public infrastructure. He served as the Chair for the 2002 and 2005 ASCE Orange County Infrastructure Report Cards and led the effort for the 2016 update of this report card, which was released in July. Additionally, Yaz was the Co-Chair of the 2006 and 2012 ASCE California Infrastructure Report Cards that shone a needed spotlight on the condition of our public infrastructure here in California, and the tremendous need for continued infrastructure rehabilitation and replacement efforts.  Yaz was recently selected as ASCE California's Outstanding Civil Engineer in the Private Sector.
