Mr. Nouri is the winner of six awards by five national engineering societies including the Hoover Medal. He is the Co-founder of the ASCE/Los Angeles Section, Hydrology & Hydraulics Technical Group and the inventor of the Hydraulic Oscillating Diverter. Synopsis: The concept of using a potential reversible lane for a sediment bypass channel around Prado Reservoir will be described. However, the feasibility and appropriateness of such a reversible lane will have to be analyzed by a transportation engineer. The presentation will focus on sediment bypass around the Prado Reservoir to achieve the following advantages 1. Potential for improving traffic flow along Freeway 91 2. Enhance groundwater recharge along Santa Ana River downstream of Prado Dam 3. Prevent erosion and degradation in Santa Ana River downstream of Prado Dam, thereby maintaining the integrity of the SARI line 4. Provide beach sand Nourishment 5. Reduce sediment deposition in the Prado Basin, thereby reducing loss of storage and damage to the existing riparian habitat 6.
